President Halstead Catches Mascot Fever

As The College at Brockport prepared to send off the Class of 2014 at the annual Senior Toast, the seniors were greeted by an unexpected, yet familiar guest. Ellsworth Eagle, the college’s mascot and runner-up in this year’s SUNY Mascot Madness contest, raised a toast of congratulations to this year’s graduates. Usually an eagle of few words, Ellsworth broke with tradition and revealed himself to be a recognizable figure on campus – President John Halstead. Dr. Halstead donned the suit as a way to have some fun and congratulate the Class of 2014 for their achievements in the Senior Challenge. This year’s class had the highest participation of any class in recent history and raised more than $8,800. More than 2,200 undergraduate students will commence from the College during two ceremonies on Saturday.
